Also, in our introductory dialogues, you made a case for murder regarding the problem of terrorism. You said that "killing is essential for life." [Revisit, beginning with the Dispassionate Phagocytes]  You advocated that those who use terrorist means to oppose our life style should be ruthlessly and utterly eliminated, including their supporting infrastructure regardless of so called collateral damage to women and children.  Outrageous! for sure.  Then after having made such an outrageous claim,  you then turned around and said, that to do so would certainly solve our problems in the world, but that by doing so we would acquire a significant Karmic debt for which I figure we would be severely punished, wrathful God or not.  This is inconsistent.  I hope that you are going to address my questions and resolve these inconsistencies.

Mystical Protagonist:
First, for you to follow through on your plan to become a successful predatory capitalist, do you have the required debased or absent ethics to follow through on such a commitment? And I will address the paradox you mentioned, that while killing is essential for life in the material world, please do recall the antecedent conditions that are required before any such draconian action is taken, even against terrorists. Then you are correct, I did also state that those who remove the terrorists by violence will pay a severe Karmic price in their capacity to benefit from the Spiritual Realms.  Our dialogues are about C/consciousness, not "smarts" or "tactical ruthlessness."

P: First of all, the MP will show you that there is a price to pay for not living the elements of a Just life as defined only by and according to the  LAWS OF TRUTH, that which manifestations only through the Spiritual LAW.  We speak now of life itself, the Soul, the "subtle essence" about which Freeman quotes [above], the mechanism for the flowing continuity of life.  We ask now about the quality of that life, and about what merits and demerits it earns in the Reality of Spiritual Truth.

A Just life requires harmlessness in thought and word as well as deed. It promotes the healing of conflict, seeks to promote the well being of others, and requires that one gives the gift of Trust, Love and Service to others.  Sometimes these are required at a sacrifice of one's own desires and convenience. To put it bluntly, to the extent you fill these Spiritual requirements you will be rewarded. To the extent you ignore and do not fulfill these requirements you will find yourself lost at sea, languishing.  But if you oppose the Sacred LAW you will be punished, not for what you have done, but by what you have done, i.e., the natural, or Cosmic consequences of your own acts, not by the actions of a wrathful God. That is the Secret of Karma.   Ken Lay's death has not absolved him from this perfect justice for his evil acts and the heartache and loss he caused.   He is already experiencing a special kind of pain and anguish, experiencing that actual pain of each of his victims exactly as they experienced it.  But don't ask me now about the mechanism by which this transpires, but pay close attention as we proceed with  the material on Karma and Reincarnation. 

Q: Yes!  Here it comes, there is going to be a hell fire and damnation after all, but disguised under another name.  I knew it!  But you almost had me seduced.

P: But there is no hell fire and damnation, at least not the kind the fundamentalist preachers rant about. Relax.  But there is something else, and unfortunately far worse. But it is also far more elegant, reasonable, and manageable. But is is also Just, absolutely and without exception.  In the following scripture, I would change the word "fear" to respect, and I note that the word "Lord" means, in the MP, "THE LAW."

"A wise man will hear and increase learning,
And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel,
To understand a proverb and an enigma,
The words of the wise and their riddles.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge,
But fools despise wisdom and instruction."
[Prov 1:5-7, NKJV]

P: You will discover that this Justice is something worthy of profound respect more than fear. Also, this Justice is something that your substantial intellect, once informed, can chew on. So in this dialogue I will address the nature of this unavoidable "Cosmic Justice." This is the Perfect Justice that happens to those who thumb their noses at personal responsibility for any of their actions that harm others. Finding your way to a Just life is like trying to find the right train to take you to a city of perfection

Review the following allegorical story:

Q: So I am wondering if I am bound to a city of suffering.  I was pretty happy before you placed  all these challenges in front of me.  But now I know I must confront what you have been telling me, that there is considerable tribulation setting up for most of us, and there will not, cannot, be any escape.  I understand the getting to the city of desire is the perfect Justice earned by leading a good life life, one of Spiritual seeking and serving.  I can't understand how Justice can seem so unfair when innocent people get hurt.  That better fits the vengeful God theme.

P: I will  give you some surprising reasons why there is a crucial and essential role for tribulation and suffering in GOD'S Reality that is linked to this Prefect Justice.   You will also come to understand why Divine Justice is perfect, patient and certain. In this approach I will also address often asked questions regarding the validity and dynamics of Karma and Reincarnation (K&R.)  K&R are the perfect instruments by which perfectly patient and perfect Justice is fulfilled on earth.  You will, as do each of us, chose to oppose, ignore, or serve this Perfect LAW and thus reap the consequences that assuredly follow.

Q: OK. So what does Spiritual Ethics and Justice have to do with K&R?  No religious bullshit here- -right? I'm asking for some kind of visible, understandable, and especially reasonable explanation. I can hardly wait. What ethical measuring rod assures there is Real and certain Justice for the corrupt, and what form does it take? Likewise, I especially ask this about its relationship to the power mongers and exploiters you mentioned in our introductory dialogue and in our last dialogue on power and control.

P: In order for one's Ethical behavior to advance upward within the cone of ethical consciousness, [left figure] the Pilgrim requires the presence of a viable and active Spiritual gyroscope.

Q: OK.  So now comes the protocol for living a Spiritually Ethical life or Karma will get me.  Right?

P:  True, but no matter what you do, or don't do, Karma will  "get" you.  So I want you to choose correctly. I will give you some Scientific and Scriptural evidence for Karma and Reincarnation. I will show why regulation (discipline) is essential for life, whether in each of us, or in our institutions, corporations, and in our entire society.

This phenomenon applies absolutely, whether at the level of the person (you,) or at any level of social complexity, e.g., a corporation, American society, or an international conglomerate or society.

I will define an Ethical hierarchy from which any user of the Mystical Paradigm can detect and interpret the presence of good and evil in themselves and in their lives.  Most will be surprised where you stand in that hierarchy.  You must act on these principles as they provide standards and criteria for recognizing good and avoiding evil.

We have just concluded our dialogue on the dynamics of ego directed power and control. You noted how power is abused by some of those out of control human egos ensconced in the seats of corporate and government power.  One of the most obscene developments that demonstrates the impoverishment of the public's comprehension of Spirituality are the growing attempts to infuse marketing and corporate behavior with what the work shop entrepreneurs called "spirituality."  Briefly review the following evidence on an external site that presents a capitalist version of "Consciousness" and Spirituality" applied to corporate practice.  In this entrepreneurial extravaganza you will note their demonstration (not content) is support for my assertion.  Keep in mind what you find there as we continue this dialogue. Which of those presentations understands Spirituality as defined by the MP?  [review evidence on external site]

After your review, I trust that you will recall from our dialogue on communication, that "saying doesn't make it so."  Words have no absolute meaning.  Those claims are evident in most of the intellectually bound presentations summarized on that web page. That evidence should set the scale of the challenge before you and those who hope to take on this mass of good faith, but divergent understanding.  Recall, that it cannot be fully dealt with intellectually.

Q: You mean my developing understanding combined with my great intellect is not sufficient to argue those folks down?

P: Correct.

Q:  So most of those presentations are still trapped in the frame of predatory competition, no matter what they call it.  How can I make a difference?

P: I can't answer for you or anyone else. But compare what is presented to you in these last two dialogues with what you found on that web page.  Then you will know. Spiritual Ethics are a reference point that must be lived and practiced, not preached.  Ethical Principles operate in one's heart like the behavior of a gyroscope operates in an airplane. An airplane's gyroscope is a mechanical frame of reference of great reliability, but useless until used in accordance with the principles which have created it, i.e., the physics of flight. The Physics of flight is an aspect of  "THE LAW" as manifest in the physical world.

Q: Say more to clarify that, go for it.

P: Please read the following metaphor of a gyroscope that is relevant for understanding the MP's Ethical model:

P: So, based on the concept of a mechanical gyroscope, the MP holds that Spiritual Consciousness is a person's moral and ethical  gyroscope insofar as their decisions affect themselves and others.  Just as the airplanes gyroscope must be true to the Laws of Flight, so too must Spiritual Consciousness be equal to the demands of decision making in an Ethical moral framework.  For airplanes, the laws of cause and effect (physical Karma) is limited to actions only on the material plane.  But for the function of moral Law in human behavior, a Spiritual gyroscope functions in the realms of Spiritual Consciousness. Any human misadventure is answered by the Laws of K&R.

Q;  So if I ignore the laws of flight, and am ignorant of, or misuse, the gyroscopic instruments in an airplane, I am subject to a crash. Then it follows according to your argument, that if I have the same disregard for Spiritual Law in my decisions and behavior in relating to others in life, it follows that I face a "crash"  in life through the consequences of K&R. Is that the idea?

P:  Yes. In your life, the information from your ego and your earthly senses and intelligence are equivalent to what your body tells you is happening when you fly in instrument conditions, but without reference to a gyroscope.  The presence of Spiritual Consciousness is equivalent to the airplane's gyroscope which is essentially worthless if you don't know it's there, or know how to use it.  I want you to know its there and use it effectively. Like the response of an airplane to a pilot's management of its controls, you're life creates the responses that follow from the quality, discipline and knowledge of Spiritual Law (or lack of) that your bring to the decisions that affect your life.

Q: Then there are no exceptions to this Divine Justice in the outworking of K&R on on either the physical, mental or Spiritual planes.

P: Actually, there is special concept called Grace.  But I will avoid that concept now because most people think of Grace as a kind of trump card that can be played at the last moment and thus avoid the traditional hell or negative Karma.  But the dynamics of Grace cannot be understood that way in the MP.

Briefly, in OT/MP, "Grace" is our ever present Spiritual capacity to open the Spiritual Consciousness to ask for and accept healing and forgiveness.  But our Consciousness must be unfolded sufficiently to empower Grace.  The source is our innate Spiritual link within us.

Q: You mean what the primal infant lost consciousness of during the process of her birth? [ref Primal Dream of the Infant parable]

P: Yes. Through that link we can immediately and unconditionally benefit in accordance with our needs. So let me assure you that almost 100 percent of evil doers will not be saved by Grace alone according the Principles of K&R.  No one who comes to grips with the Principles of OT/MP should have any expectation that Grace is likely to be a factor in their lives, except in the very special way that I will define it in our subsequent dialogue on Love.

Q:  Then I await your guidance with baited breath.

Q: Of course.

P:  But first, I want to directly confront your strong aversion to any writings associated with religion. I will now confront you with selected scripture from sacred works of various faith traditions.  But by now you should have an expectation that in the context of the MP, the Metaphysical meanings behind the scriptures are not likely gong to be the conventional kind that guilt type religions often use to coerce and intimidate their followers.

Q: I'll depend on that as a promise.

P: The following Scripture addresses the Spiritual gifts of suffering and tribulation by means of Karma.

The secret to understanding what I am about to share with you is not to try to understand it in terms of the rational logic of the world as distorted by your intellect.  That will take some effort on your part, but I have noticed that you can do it.

Q:  O.K.  I've come this far, and I am will try to remain as open as I can. But you better be fast and convincing with the justification.

P:  The Bible's Scriptural language reflects the patriarchal orientation of the ancient the Hebrew's rural agrarian culture.  Don't let that blind you to the underlying Spiritual Truth. These rules and laws apply today to all persons in our sexually liberated society.

P: A consistent theme in Christian Scripture is to have the Pilgrim separate the illusory (but convincing) reality of the sensate mind (the world) from the Pilgrim's inner Spiritual Reality called the Christ Presence.  It is only our dedication to "the world" that creates suffering.  But an awakened Spiritual Consciousness or "Christ" creates the potential for salvation from the tribulation of the world, hence Jesus' claim, "...I have overcome the world." [John 16:33]

P: A Spiritually valid Ethics must fit all human situations.  The Ethics used for the MP meets that test. As the details of this Dialogue develop, remember this difference. Secular ethics will have a materialistic (pragmatic) frame of reference, thus it will be somehow self-serving for its owners, e.g., be good and avoid hell, or do good and go to heaven, etc.  Sadly, many religion grounded ethics are constructed in this secular frame of reference based on sectarian beliefs, values and judgments.  Naturally such mandates are not well received, and do not fare well with those whose entire consciousness lives in the world of the intellect.   But to be Spiritually valid, Ethical frames of reference must be mapped against an undistorted  mirror of the eternal LAW that serves all.  Your thoughts and actions are likely to reflect a Spiritually grounded Ethics, i.e., it is a mirror of the LAW if your actions uniformly:

1. Promote LOVING KINDNESS.
2. Are HARMLESS: Does not commit, permit or condone harm anyone by thought, word or deed. There are no exceptions to this requirement. Regardless of the arena we are considering, or regardless of its short or long term consequences, or regardless of any noble ends to which one aspires, and regardless of is relationship to your self interest, or your family's, or your group's, organization's, institution's, nation, society's or even the entire world's perceived best interests, there are no exceptions or qualifications for this imperative. Our Ethics must always conform to this unyielding requirement. In addition, for our actions to be entirely Ethical in accordance with the MP, they must also meet the following tests:
3. PROMOTE TRUST: Promotes and builds trust among all parties to human interaction.  Meeting the first condition empowers one to meet this second test.  Where trust exists, because there is no fear of betrayal or loss, one may take risks to act in the service of others in uncertain conditions.
4. PROMOTE FORGIVENESS:  The power to forgive is essential to the promotion of trust.  One cannot be trusted if perceived to hold grudges. You may have difficulty with promoting harmlessness if you must function in a context of inadequate trust.  The residue of conflict or betrayal remains a festering poison that corrupts the energy and decision making of its owner.  This negativity must be cleansed through forgiveness.  Any power oriented agenda betrays trust.  Any ethical action will involve the capacity for forgiveness of past issues and conflicts, or for prior harms of any kind.  Until the Soul is cleansed and released from the ego's illusory and convincing justification for anger, resentment, bitterness, or vengeance, the Soul cannot continue its Spiritual evolution. It becomes arrested in a state of primal emotions.  We find such people everywhere, a sad and miserable lot they are.  Therefore the Ethics of the MP will serve to empower you to forgive all who you perceive to have adversely afflicted you, including and especially, forgiveness of yourself.
5. PROMOTE HEALING AND WHOLENESS: Regardless of any practical outcome of any decision or action, such  must be expressed as openness, efforts toward integration, reunion, unity, and belonging.  This condition requires all human participants to enter into positive social interactions, including those who may be innocently affected by the results of such interaction. there must be no "collateral damage" resulting from any action.  No adverse means can be justified by an expected positive outcome.   The role and function of Peacemaking (Mediation) is a major Spiritually grounded endeavor in this area, and is one of Beatudes  ["Sermon on the Mount,"  [Mat 5: 1-16].]
6. PROMOTE OPENNESS AND NON JUDGMENT: Openness is the practice of acceptance, including views with which you don't agree. Once can accept the presence and views of others even when there is disagreement.
7. EMPOWERS SPIRITUAL GROWTH AND ENLIGHTENMENT among all human participants in any human system in which you serve.  Regardless of any practical objectives or consequences being addressed, these must be managed in such a way that one's activities also promotes or nourishes the Spiritual qualities surrounding one's goals and objectives.  Apart from any practical benefits, by attempting to achieve this Cosmic success, the pragmatic needs in the situation will also tend to be served.  We are to first seek the Kingdom of God so that everything else will then be added on. [Ref]  A key value in meeting this condition has been provided by the Ethical Culture Movement:  "Seek to elicit the best in others, and thereby bring to light the best that is in yourself."

Q: So!  I should look for the presence of these conditions in the actions of people, in the behavior of groups and in corporations and institutions, especially in politics and the law, and ultimately see its result in society.  What if they offer some other definition of ethics?

P: If you wish to apply the MP to ethical mandates offered by any other paradigm, for them to be Spiritually valid and empowered, they too must also meet these conditions. We will develop the substance for implementing these conditions as we proceed. These conditions must be achieved at a high level or the success of the Mystical Paradigm in promoting social healing may be diminished or corrupted. Our society can not intellectually develop a viable moral C/consciousness unless and until our priorities are effectively guided by these Spiritual conditions.  Given failure to meet this Ethical test for Spiritual integrity, those who fail are condemned to meet the relentless and certain fruits of the process called Karma, if not in in one life time, then over several.

Q: At last!  I have been waiting to hear you define Reincarnation and Karma for me.

P: First, I must define evil as measured against this Ethical structure or Spiritual frame of reference. After all, Karma is a Cosmic response to all material actions whether they are for evil or for good.  Recall the definition of M. Scott Peck (1983).  [NOTE: details of Peck's definition of evil.]

"Evil" is the knowing and willful persistence in any adverse action that harms any living system. Evil  is what is punished by means of Reincarnation and negative Karma. [note: Fillmore's Spiritual definition of evil]

Now these processes of K&R are consistent with everything that modern science is coming to conclude about the fundamental nature of the universe. There are no exceptions to any system or condition that exists as part of any Whole.  All parts obey the LAW of the WHOLE. There are no discontinuities in the Cosmos.  The Universe is continuous.  All of its subsystems are continuous within themselves, with each other, and within the embracing Whole of the Cosmos.  It is our sensate bounded intellect that creates the appearance of discontinuity. [Recall the mind game demonstration of ONEness  in the Dialogue 1, on C/consciousness] The presence of any illusion of discontinuity is a breech of trust, and generates fear which in turn activates the ego's defense mechanisms.

Any discontinuity, however experienced, is only an appearance, a flaw of mind and sense bound limits.  Discontinuity is a mind contrived anomaly, a sensate illusion. There is only one HOLISTIC LAW in which we live and move and have our being. Therefore, there can be no discontinuity in what we experience as life! Any apparent discontinuity or imperfection is a result of our flawed perceptions and DSE processing systems. [Review DSE definition]

Q:  But if one suffers from perceptual and processing errors from the three traps of the mind, how can anyone actually know where they stand ethically with reference to what you have been calling "Truth?"  Everyone already agrees that Love is good and hate and greed are bad, yet humanity all over the world still mostly functions to ignore good and legitimize and serve greed.

P:  Thus is demonstrated the need to transcend the control of the ego, nd accept the guidance of the heart.  The Buddha  has said how evil thoughts and deeds affect a perpetrator. [see "The Fool." The Dhammapada]  Which example will you choose to follow?

Q: I will prefer the path of Wisdom, if I can recognize the fool in order to avoid that kind of influence.

P: And most especially the "fool" in yourself.

P: Yes, the fool is to be avoided.  You do appear to have been malnourished in that part of your intellect.

Q: You mean my potential to discern the paths of ego illusion from the Spiritual Path that leads to my Spiritual growth?

P: Of course.  Part of what influences each of us during this incarnation of our Souls is the requirement to at least replace bad Karma with good Karma. This process is ongoing until until your Spiritual Consciousness evolves sufficiently for you to transcend Karma all together.  Allow me to nourish your intellect now in regard to K & R.  First you must understand the role and dynamics of Karma to Spiritual unfoldment.

The preferred teaching for the MP regarding Karma is found in Theosophy. It is also consistent in principle with teachings from eastern theologies, and also with various expressions of the secret teachings of all ages, including the Gnostic roots of Christianity.  These have been repeatedly revealed to those Mystically enlightened elements of humanity.  For example, the progenitor of Theosophy, H.P. Blavatsky, introduces the following definition and context for Karma:

 "Questions with regard to Karma and re-births are constantly offered, and a great confusion seems to exist upon this subject. Those who are born and bred in the Christian faith, and have been trained in the idea that a new soul is created by God for every newly born infant, are among the most perplexed. [but] ...The Law of Karma is inextricably interwoven with that of Re-incarnation...  ...it is only this doctrine, we say, that can explain to us the mysterious problem of Good and Evil, and reconcile man to the terrible and apparent injustice of life... For when one unacquainted with the noble doctrine [of Karma] looks around him, and observes the inequalities of both birth and fortune, of intellect and capacities; when one sees honor paid fools and profligates, on who fortune has heaped her favors by mere privilege of birth, and their nearest neighbor, with all his intellect and novel virtues far more deserving in every way--perishing of want and for lack of sympathy; when one sees all this and has to turn away, helpless to relieve the undeserved suffering, one's ears ringing and heart aching with the cries of pain around him--that blessed knowledge of Karma alone prevents him from cursing life and men, as well as their supposed creator.  Of all the terrible blasphemies and accusations virtually thrown on their God by the Monotheists [specifically Christians] none is greater or more unpardonable than that (almost always) false humility which makes the presumably "pious" Christian assert, in connection with every evil and undeserved blow, that `such is the will of God.'

 "....Compare this blind faith with the philosophical belief, based on every reasonable evidence and life- experience, in Karma-Nemesis or the Law of Retribution.  This Law--whether Conscious or Unconscious-- predestines nothing and no one.  It exists from and in eternity, truly for it is ETERNITY itself; and as such, since no act can be co-equal with eternity, it can not be said to act, for it is ACTION itself.  It is not the Wave which drowns the man, but the personal action of the wretch himself...  Karma creates nothing nor does it design.  It is man who plans and creates and causes, and Karmic law adjusts the effects; which adjustment is not an act, but universal harmony tending ever to resume its original position, like a bough, which bent down too forcibly, rebounds with corresponding vigor.  If it happens to dislocate the arm that tried to bend it out of its natural position, shall we say that it is the bough which broke our arm, or that our own folly brought us to grief?

" ...[Karma] has not involved its decrees in darkness purposely to perplex man; nor shall it punish him who dares to scrutinize its mysteries.  On the contrary, he who unveils through study and meditation its intricate paths, and throws light on those dark ways, in the windings of which so many men perish owing to their ignorance of the labyrinth of life, is working for the good of his fellow-men.  KARMA is an Absolute and Eternal law in the World of manifestation; and as there can only be one Absolute, as One eternal ever present Cause, believers in Karma cannot be regarded as Atheists or materialists--still less as fatalists."  [Blavatsky,1888/1988, pp 302-305,  brackets added]

Q: But what good is to be punished when we don't know why we are deserving it?

P: That is part of Karma.  There is no way for the ego owned and operated rational intellect to untangle the complex interacting cause and effect manifestations of Karma.  One must first expand and rise in sufficient Spiritual Consciousness to catch on, or at least recognize the requirements of responsible behavior relative to the actions being redressed.  Notice I do not use the words damnation or punishment because of their pejorative context, especially in Christian theology.

Q: But it feels like punishment.

P: And it is punishment, but only for those who cannot recognize the Spiritual implications.  Those who persist in the same destructive patterns perpetuate the same evil, they spin in endless cycles of rebirths.  Do you feel that you have been unfairly harmed, or treated to some kind of arbitrary and capricious injustice in life?  I surely have.  I surely hadn't done anything deserving of such abuse in this life. But one of Blavatsky's foremost interpreters in the early part of the 20th Century has also commented on Karma, and explained the complex way its workings resolve Justice:

"...because of the extremely complicated and intricate nature of the Web of Destiny in which we are all involved, causing us to act and react upon others, weakly or strongly as the case may be, we often suffer dumbly and as it were unfairly, because our eyes are blinded, and we have no cognitional memory of the original cause of our suffering.  Because our characters have improved and grown better by the coming into us of new streams of spiritual energy, however feeble these may be, we have the strong feeling that the suffering and pain which we undergo are ‘unmerited'--and so in very truth they are for the ‘new man' which in the later incarnation we have become.  It was not this ‘new man' which committed the faults, did the evil deeds, lived the selfish and perhaps ignoble life of the ‘old man':  and consequently to the ‘new man' of the present life, with his changed character and the more noble spiritual impulses and larger intellectual vision, the suffering that comes upon him is not strictly in the ‘new man's' karman [Theosophy's reference to Karma]--although it is strict karmic justice following upon the causal actions of the ‘old man' who was, but now no longer is because he has become the ‘new man.'" [de Purucker, G., 1935, p 530), brackets added]

P: Yes, not even by contemplating it, nor coveting or wishing it be done by impersonal means.  Adversity should be interpreted as a Spiritual test, and the correct response is to reflect deeply on its personal significance, but only for the state of our own C/consciousness.  In short, we must give it Spiritual meaning. [Kushner, 1985] For those who now selfishly exploit and debase the ecology of our earth for their personal gain, consider this challenging thought:

"I've wondered, could it [the time spent in the womb] be that the womb is the other side of the tomb?  From the standpoint of divine justice, this would make a great deal of sense, for it would make us truly accountable for the world we inherit.  The world we would be reborn in would be the world as we had left it nine months before.  If we'd sown the wind, it would be we who reaped the whirlwind. Fair, no?" [Freeman, 1986, p 290]

P: "Luck" is not because "God" is humoring us or singling us out for reward.  That anthropomorphic God does not exist.  We have these experiences for good because that reward is a natural byproduct of the LAW of TRUTH.  Good Karma if you will, occurs as a result of  our somehow having discarded our Karmic debts and placed ourselves in alignment with the Sacred PLAN.   Through our harmonious actions in THE LAW, the PLAN is being fulfilled.  Having served The LAW, we experience the effect as reward.

Q:  So why then does God create these punishments through the so called PLAN?

P: GOD does not punish. When you truly understand from a sense of Spiritual Knowing, then you will grasp why suffering is not the presumption of a sadistic and vengeful God that many people believe, claim, and fear.   Rabbi Kushner confronted that question during the dying process of his beloved child Aaron.  He concluded after painful reflection:

"Let me suggest that the bad things that happen to us in our lives do not have a meaning when they happen to us.  They do not happen to us for any good reason that would make us accept them willingly.  But we can give them a meaning. We can redeem these tragedies from senselessness by imposing a meaning on them."  [Kushner, 1985]

"The first step in all reform is the recognition of the power of the law. Wisdom shows us what the law is and where we have fallen short in our use of it. Then we are shown that there is no anger against us on the part of God.  Transgression of the law brings its own punishment. We are not punished for our sins but by them.  God is kindness.  God is love--livingkindess is a word of rare compound."  [Fillmore, 1953]

Scientific Arguments in Defense of Karma:
P: You want "proof" of Karma?  O.K., Here it is on your terms, by means of inductive rather than deductive logic. By that I mean I will proceed under the premise that the Universe is a continuous WHOLE, and that the PRINCIPLES of TRUTH apply consistently everywhere, in every system.  I ask only that your mind stay open to the Whole in view of the following evidence in the particular. But you should know by now that your Real Understanding of this can only come from meditative contemplation and reflection over time until you have your own "Ah! Ha!" [Necker Cube phenomenon] flip of some relevant part of your mental consciousness as directed by Spiritual Consciousness.

Your Real understanding can not come from any exhausting deductive analysis or mental grasping. The case is made by means of an inductive understanding (Knowing) of Karma which can be constructed from consistent cause and effect observations. Anyone with eyes to see and ears to hear can follow these events in our physical world.

Here is the inductive evidence for a pattern of  Karmic phenomenon that regularly manifests to our senses, even to the senses of materialist scientists.  But this link as evidence for Karma will be truly accepted only by those with Spiritual eyes to see, ears to hear and a mind to Know beyond (or in spite of) the physical evidence!!

Argument 1- Limited to the carnal world (of the Senses) and Not the Spiritual World: The phenomenon of Karma only works in the world of perception (material world of cause & effects,) i.e., the carnal world of our ego's senses and their slave, the ego intellect.  This may be experienced as rewards for good, and vengeance or retribution for harmful acts. But any intent for adversity to serve as punishment or vengeance is not present and does not apply. Not ever.

Karma is impersonal and entirely created by social and psychological cause and effect in the minds of those who share that experience.  This means that the fruits of our actions are limited to those audible, visible and feeling transactions we experience as daily life. These are only based in the physical world of sensory and mental processing. After first creating our participation in, or making us vulnerable to these events according the the Laws of Karma, the intellect (and attached emotions) then act to define any subsequent experiences as reward or punishment.
Argument 2- Evidence in the Mechanical World: The Newtonian laws of thermodynamics explains the behavior of physical systems.  The foot pushing backward pushes the body forward, The propeller of a ship pushes back the water and pushes the ship forward. The hot exhaust of a flaming rocket engine pushes up on the rocket container, and the ship to which it is attached rises into space.  Causal physical energy yields visible effects. No movement of energy in the physical world can occur without an opposite effect.
Argument 3- Evidence in the Electrical Chemical World: Energy stored within chemical compounds (including the interface of dissimilar metals) is released into heat, light, or electricity when the compounds are broken down (e.g., corrosion of dissimilar metals, or the burning of coal, wood, or petroleum products.)  Heat or light applied to disparate chemical elements forge them into compounds, (e.g., plastics.)  Electrical potential (voltage) across a pair of points, in the absence of a pattern of coils, capacitors or resistance, creates an identical pressure when the circuit is connected across a distant pair of points. The discharge (reduction) of voltage through an electrical circuit, e.g., high energy transmission lines, or any electrical circuit, produces some combination of work, heat, light, and magnetic fields (e.g., via heaters, motors, resistors, capacitors, coils, or solenoids.)

[Re the above figures] An electrical current with an imposed alternating rate of change in electrical pressure (voltage) captured by a camera's photoelectric plate, or microphone in a TV or radio studio, is sent to a transmitter where the pattern is imposed on a carrier frequency created by alternating electrical fields.  The modulated carrier is greatly amplified and sent to an attached copper rod (transmitting antenna.) The modulated alternating current in the antenna creates an identical modulated magnetic field that fluctuates exactly with the modulated pattern of video or sound from the recording device.

This modulated magnetic wave pattern of fluctuations, pass through space, and pass through a distant passive copper rod (receiving antenna.) There, by the laws of electro-magnetism, by passing through the antenna, these electromagnetic waves energize an identical modulated pattern of energy (voltage) in the receiving rod (antenna) that had been present in the transmitting antenna.  These modulated patterns of energy which contain the encoded modulated rate and pattern of alternating voltage (TV sight, or radio audio) are sent to a decoder and amplifier in the receiving TV or radio set. These devices strip away the carrier wave and interpret the modulated pattern of voltage that was imposed at the transmitting site.

These patterns are further transformed again to display through the appropriate mechanisms, the original pattern of pictures and/or sound that were originally encoded at the studio facility. Through this chain of physical cause-effect devices, the original cause in the studio appears miles away as an effect in the receiving set.

To further consider this, the human generated information encoded in the matter energy pattern at the studio site that was sent across space to the TV/radio receiver, is observed by a human receiver whose knowledge, emotional state and/or behavior may be altered accordingly (for better or worse.)
Argument 4- Cause-Effect Evidence in the Lower Order Biological World: even plants demonstrate intelligence. Reversing the orientation of a plant whose leaves are facing the light, will cause the leaves to re-orient themselves from the new position in order to return to face the light. Nourishing one half of the plant's container with water and nutritious soil will cause the roots to grow only in that direction, avoiding the sterile part of the container. Placing predator fish in an aquarium of prey fish will cause the disappearance of the prey fish. Hibernating animals, who store sufficient fat in their bodies during the prior summer, will survive a severe winter.

The behavior of DNA in genetic "seed" material (DNA = causal potential in the form of instructions resident in the Spiritual energy-information fields) creates a new living structure (effect) explicitly in accordance with the precise plan entered into the DNA by its originating intelligence.  Fertilizing crops leads to increased plant growth, but also to river pollution. While this evidence is present in these narrower contexts of the biological world, I argue that "the world" must likewise experience the Summative effects at the GAIA level (Holistic Global Living System & Soul.)

This enormously complex causal Intelligence whose own "genetic" instructions are likewise as precise, arrange the Holistic patterns of Spiritual Information within which we (human life and our societies) are designed to unfold and function. But we can unfold only insofar as out C/consciousness is empowered to detect, process and comprehend this information.  A radio set cannot interpret a TV signal.  But we can relate to this larger body of information only in accordance with the limits and balances defined within THE LAW whose interactive complexity as Gaia is only now dawning upon our meager mental consciousness.
Argument 5- Evidence in the Organization of Human Society: Villages founded by an ocean will develop a dependency on fish. Villages who develop in the grasslands will develop a dependency on grain and herd animals. Nations who reward large families with tax and social benefits, will eventually choose between a crisis of food and resources, or an expansionist or exploitive war. Or the uncontrolled expansions of their population will eventually cause them to endure violence through internal insurrection or revolution. This negative cause-effect pattern will be further amplified if associated with predatory competition rooted in challenged turf needs. This harmful set of events is a Karmic result of absent or insufficient personal and social discipline (due to an impoverished intellectual consciousness) that yields the neglect which produces the over-population.  But first, overpopulated societies frequently turn their aggressions toward external conquest through population reducing aggressive and expansionist wars.

Permitting children to be harmed or stolen by a parent without social consequences, (and thereby establishing an uncontested rule,) will develop high magnitudes of child abuse and abduction in response to family stress, greed, or in support of a pathogenic parent's hate, or a thieving parent's selfish goals.  A parent's maladaptive social behavior will create stress in a child's interactions with a social system.  A child who is denied Love by a parent or parents, and who is forced to fend for itself in the presence of parental selfishness and indifference, develops those very same behaviors in order to psychologically and biologically survive, first in that family, and then in society.  They carry such defects into their adult life.

Such a pattern then dominates their behavior in their interaction with others [see M. Scott Peck.]  Such a child grows to display and inflict those behaviors on her/his parents while still a child, and then on his/her own children and on others as an adult.  In the absence of Spiritual Consciousness, the child acts to maintains this pathogenic behavior as a perpetual cycle of Karma. Hence we learn from ancient Wisdom: "The gods visit the sins of the fathers upon the children." [Euripides, Phrixus; and Exodus, 20:5]  But to the Spiritually Illuminated, we exhibit the reverse, Love begets Love.
   Argument 6- The Existence of Time/Energy Scales Larger than Human Life Spans:  The span of the illusion of time gives evidence of life before us, life as us, and life likely to continue beyond us. The limits of the humans senses when extended by means of technology, give evidence of energy vibrations and fields far in excess of our human consciousness to detect, even when extended to the limits of our current technological prothesis.  Astronomers observe events in distant space that occurred billions of light years before current human consciousness.  In current times, the NDE (Near Death Experience) and Edgar Cayce type reports, are persistently suggestive that we interact with a higher (Spiritual) planes of existence.  Experiences with deep Meditation (in the Silence) have produced individuals able to give credible personal testimony that such realms exist outside of our normal consciousness.
   Argument 7- Evidence of the Integrative Nature of Energy Wave Fields: At the cutting edge of human information processing of knowledge itself, and in the study of the nature of intelligence itself, scientists are providing compelling evidence that the organization of C/consciousness is intrinsic in the Cosmos,  i.e. intelligence is not based on the flow of atomistic energy (e.g. electrons in the brain and nerves) but as interwoven and interlocking holographic wave forms of Energy-Information patterns [Pribram, 1971] that extend beyond our bodies to intersect with all other such systems in the universe, i.e., all are sources of non local guidance for human intelligence.

Therefore, the locus of our "intelligence" is not localized within the body, but is the result of integration within and by the body from larger embracing systems of non local Intelligence. [Dossey, 2001] The nature of this Intelligence is defined by the larger Energy/Information matrix in which we are embedded (the Suprasystem) and to which we must relate by design as a condition of survival, health, and well being.

Note: the manner by which this non local induction of Information is accomplished is not in accordance with the same principles of electromagnetism as described in Argument 3. [See the work being done at Princeton University: Dr. Roger Nelson and others at PEAR and at the University of Amsterdam (Netherlands) in an area called: anomalous cognition.]
Argument 8- The Persistent Continuity of Life Forms and NDE: The complex interweaving of life forms, from micro ecologies, to larger biological microsystems, macro systems of biomes, and comprehensive GAIA ecosystems are all seamlessly interwoven and unfolding to fulfill their respective roles. Each is an essential contributor to the entire pulsing- beating- breathing" system of the earth's ecological biosphere, which itself may be defined as a Living Soul, i.e., labeled by the name GAIA.

There are individually, and in total, an embracing Holistic energy field of vast Intelligence and complexity which is the vibrant earth, a planet, which is itself defined by, formed from, and bathed in the Universal Energy-Intelligence. This source originates within and beyond the solar system and our milky way galaxy. The significant expressions of Omnipotent, Omnipresent, and Omniscient  Divine Order reveals itself in exquisite beauty and complexity to those blessed by a Manifest C/consciousness. But its entirety remains hidden from our pallid intellectual minds because their TRUTH must be hidden from our undeserving, self serving, ego consciousness. Thus there is nothing reliable or stable that can be accomplished without the Spiritual Induction of Information, even with a person's most competent ego owned intellectual processes working alone. What is not in C/consciousness cannot be processed by the intellect....
Argument 9- The Causal Transmission of Human Will Across Space to Affect Changes in Living Systems:   In the last decade of the 20th century, the hard sciences began to investigate both the topic of consciousness, and the power of prayer, meditation and human intentionality to cause physical effects across distance.  Far from the theatrical effects created by the illusions of professional magicians, these studies focused on real world phenomena.  Demonstration of this potential were found to exist in improving the results of heart surgery, treatment of wounds and other medical conditions.

Effects were found to support the growth of cell cultures, small biological organisms and plants.  Effects were found in a variety of areas where prayer and meditation were enlisted in support of extending human will  across distance.   Further, these effects were not limited by distance.  Electromagnetic effects working across distance are known to fall off exponentially with distance, e.g., the electromagnetic TV and radio example, the behavior of light.  [For a more detailed account in support of these scientifically explained  phenomenon, see the separate technical discussion on science and Karma. Argument 10- The Phenomenological Experience of "Knowing" Itself:   For those who have entered the meditation to the point of "The Silence," or even in the most superficial meditations of a novitiate, and who have presented their human dilemmas for resolution by this means, have experienced the phenomenon of "Knowing" as a demonstration in their personal lives.  I so testify.  The occurrence of  such experiences are of themselves, necessary and sufficient testimony to the Reality of this phenomenon.

That many readers do not even know of, or understand this phenomenon, let alone those who are practiced in it, points to a fundamental source of persistent human social problems, i.e., ongoing adverse Karma.  The destructive persistence of these problems are localized in our intellectually defined and ego owned value system.. But the ego is keyed to serving only the lower order physical and emotional needs. These are processed within such persons under the rules of their ego driven materialistic, intellectual, and poorly formed core.  These are further aggravated and become hardened by indefensible religious biases and influences.

Without the victim's capacity to respect the need for SPIRITUAL validation, this negative mental energy is unchained as ongoing problematic decision making and life events.  But given Spiritual Awakening, then follows Spiritual Empowerment in which the downward spiral can be slowed and reversed.  Then the presence of Knowing yields a neutralization of the negative, and placement of the Pilgrim on the upward Spiritual path of success, fulfillment and peace.

Q: Whew!  What a load!  I will require much time to ingest all of that.  I will have to think about all that, waitt--rather, I must now try to discipline myself to meditate extensively.  It is certainly compelling at face value but there has to be something wrong with your thesis.

P: Spoken like a truly concrete intellectual cynic.  But I forgive you--it takes time for these novel thoughts to work their miracle. They will.  But you have just experienced for yourself what happens when the ego is threatened with uncertainty, this new and potentially overpowering Spiritual Paradigm.  Your ego will resist it to the core, at first.  How easy is is to give in to that fear, to surrender, to walk away, or more typically, to put off until the challenge has been forgotten.  You must not give in to that resistance.

The evils that produce our Karma are our personal investment in our sensory information which we are taught from infancy to believe in and serve. Most of our cultural pressures are directed toward nourishing the fruits of the ego.  These include:  "submission to the values of a controlling group," "material success," "intellectual achievement," " victory in competition," and "dominance over everything that you have chosen make important."  Such investments produce the so called "wages of sin" that buy your ticket on the train to spiritual death.  [For a disciplined and extended exercise in countering the weight of this lifelong investment in error, see: Schucman, & Thetford, 1975]

Q: O.K. I get your point.  In our society, to prevail requires one first suck up to power.  To "kiss ass" so to speak.

P: Yes, but one should not have to attempt it to know that "kissing ass" is not very nourishing, and it will leave a bad taste in your mouth.

Christian flavored Karma:
P: Spiritual Consciousness is required to cope with Karma, but its dynamics cannot be defined by or limited to the consciousness of one religious sect.  ["There is no religion higher than Truth," Blavatsky, 1888/1988]  Following is the description of how the dynamics of Karma are likely to work according to Christian Scripture.  As you suggest, there is no way that Karma can be spoken about that will be completely understandable or acceptable within the limits of any rational mind.  The meanings behind the language of both Karma and Reincarnation relate to a Spiritual Truth which cannot be grasped by the intellect alone.

Now here is direct Scriptural guidance on the necessity for the Reality of K&R by which Karma created tribulations work their Spiritual redemption for those who awaken to Know.  You will note here that Christian support for the existence of Karma is explicit: [emphasis in the following quotes is mine]:

Q: So I gather that somehow, in some way, each person find rewards or punishments in the world in exact measure as a result of their actions.  Correct?

P: Yes. An by actions, I trust you mean first thought, and then plans, and then words and actions which relate entirely to the material world, not the Spiritual world.

Q: Ah! ha! But it is the vengeful God theme after all?

P:  No!  the actions of GOD'S JUSTICE do not lie in the values and subsequent decisions of an anthropomorphic (human like) God.  Rather, Perfect Justice lies in the nature of Spiritual TRUTH through which a person's own actions create their fate.  This Karmic adjustment may be resolved immediately, or over a long term, even across several lifetimes.  That nature of that dynamic, and how and why it is relevant to your life is the topic of this dialogue, because Karma and Reincarnation provide the Principles by which Perfect COSMIC Justice is earned, delivered, and received.
 

P: And so a positive karma is created by living a life of goodness, service to others, and positive reflection on life in prayer and meditation.

Q: But what is a life of goodness to self and others?

P: The ethical life, or the "good" life is defined by any of the varieties of ways to unconditionally serve the needs of others for the sake of service alone, not mostly for one's own gain.  But for those not so Spiritually inclined and who resist the implications of this Scripture,  I have already offered you the evidence in science that compliments and supports the above Scriptures.

Q: But why does Christianity appear to reject the idea of Reincarnation?

P: The following scripture is frequently offered by the orthodox to deny the Reality of Reincarnation:

"Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him."  [Heb 9:27-28]

The first coming of the Christ is its initial presentation to the ego intellect, which cannot understand it and rejects it.  Yet it introduces to the ego's mental consciousness the Christ possibility.  For the person who pursues that possibility, and grasps the inner meanings, they give up their total trust in the ego's truth and instead, accept the Presence of Truth, derived only from the larger Spiritual Consciousness. The ego despises this, and so every ego ploy and sensate illusion is directed to diverting the Pilgrim from entering that Sacred Path.

Thus, to die once, referees to the death of the ego and its influences. To be born again, is to awaken with the Consciousness of One's Spiritual truth with its higher influences.  This in Christian terms is the Christ Consciousness.  Jesus, the man, possessed the Christ Consciousness in its most pure and effective form.

"Jesus answered, “Very truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God [which exists only within you, ref: Luke 17:20-21] without being born of water and Spirit.  What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be astonished that I said to you, ‘You must be born from above.' The wind blows where it chooses, and you hear the sound of it, but you [your ego intellect] do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” [John 3:5-8, brackets added]

Q: So that is the goal you have placed before me.  For me to yield my faith in my ego intellect, and instead accept this Spirit world of uncertainty, this Mystical Spiritual realm of so called Truth, or the Reality that underlays my sense connection with the compelling illusions of matter.  My Karma as you describe it will torture me until I finally look beyond my intellectual illusions and limits that are creating my Karma.  Wow!  I'm certainly not able to accept that all at one.

P:  Karma and Reincarnation are only the Cosmic tools to facilitate that process. Now I will show Karma's relationship to the Gnostic (to Know from within) teachings of Jesus.  I offer this Mystical Christian tap root to GOD's TRUTH in the following discussion.  Because there is only ONE TRUTH, these original Gnostic Christian teachings (through they remain suppressed by most conventional Christian churches) relate to the Truth found in Buddhist thought. Buddhist thought which antedated Jesus by 450 years is believed by some scholars to have influenced Jesus while He was among the Essenes.)  They teach as follows: only correct (Spiritually valid) action, (which must be preceded and accompanied by correct thought,) determines the positive outcome of Karma which is only expressed in the world.   Karma, is a Spiritual Force, good or bad is a material outcome.  Hence Karma only acts in the world.

But, within the power and control oriented institutionalized Christianity that purged and eliminated the Gnostic legacy of Jesus, absolution came to be derived from simply accepting (through the approval of a clerical intermediary,) that Jesus (the Man) is must be accepted as one's personal savior.  Even at the last minute of life, the "saved" person was thereby accorded unconditional forgiveness (Grace) by the church after which the supplicant was no longer accountable for whatever their sins had been, no matter how destructive and evil within the body of THE LAW.  When this premise is accepted without question by the vulnerable acolyte, the clergy is enormously empowered. Surely here is the most thrilling ego reward imaginable, to be the custodian of, and be responsible for another person's Soul, and then to assign its destiny.

Q: Incredible. What a super ego power trip.

P: Consider the following mandate which is at the core of any Christian context:

"But when the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying, “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?” Jesus said to him,
“‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” [Mat 22: 34-39, NKJV]

Q: An now I understand why the early church fathers worked so intensively to remove the Gnostics who taught that a Universal God of Love is within each of us, and is directly accessible to all to who are willing to approach the alter of Spirit. That must be the "Secret Place of the Most High."   I think I grasp  it, but am not yet ready to go for it.

P:  Patience.  Yes. The Mystical Paradigm argues that this materialist belief in any external authority is erroneous and results from a non Mystical interpretation of the scriptures. There is a consistent pattern of error interpretations being designed to empower the religionist clergy and their institutional extension to create a secular directed church, regardless of denomination.  The mission of this worldly church is to impose its will on the world, whether Christian fundamentalist, or Islamic Taliban. Actions on this belief is obstructive to, or fatal to, success in  purification and unfoldment of the seeking Soul.

Q: So then the so called absolution through confession is a myth?

P: Absolution is indeed possible, but only through purification as solely determined by, and required by the nature of the person's Karma. You will discover how this works when I share with you the Allegory of the Buddhist Saint Milarepa.

Belief in the certainty of unconditional absolution under the authority of a religion or a purely human intercessor is contrary to all objective evidence that can be examined.

The offering by many religionist clergy and their personal promise of certain, earned or unearned, Grace or hell-fire by the penitent's accepting or not accepting their version of faith is cruelly self-serving. This practice has in ignorance, unleashed profound evil upon the world from those who believe they can commit any act of hate (e.g., lying, cheating, destroying the careers or livelihoods of others, murder, stealing elections by fraud and deception, fomenting war for some worldly justification, rape, or stealing a beloved child.) For them then to abruptly receive absolution from any clergy of any faith, or an elaborate purification ritual is error in action.

P: Have you ever had so many unfair things happen to you or your dear ones that you felt you were being put though some kind of sadistic test?   Most of us have.  I have many times in this life, even before my own most serious losses, and before I had been blessed by a Spiritual illumination.  We are all being tested, by ourselves, as they result of our mental choice of thought and action.  Any experience of felt injustice in your life, apart from resolving a Karmic debt, is a testing of your Spiritual fitness.

When you respond in kind to any injustice, you condemn yourself to remain in an eternal cycle of emptiness, punishment, and retribution.  This cycle will persist until you finally catch on to some aspect of your Spiritual Truth that is hidden in the incident and begin to serve it.

When you forgive, your capacity for such acts of Love expresses only be because you are at last empowered by a higher Spiritual Consciousness, i.e., actual Knowing, not mere faith or belief.  Only then can you rise and live by the Spiritual Principles defined in this Dialogue.  It is the experience of this Knowing and your change in values and behavior that yield that unique manifestation of Grace that releases you from further Karmic burdens.
