The Mystical Paradigm Is Built Upon a Spiritual
Theory
of Consciousness--
This sub dialogue continued from
Dialogue #1: The
Nature of C/consciousness
![]()
All forms of intelligence are connected to every other form.
It is an interacting hierarchy of consciousness that sets the limits
for what any given Spiritual level will directly
detect and relate to regarding any other level.
Any appearance of a discontinuity of events is a defect of perception
caused by inadequate C/consciousness.
The experience of a "miracle"
is the result of an inadequate human consciousness
to perceive the complex interacting causal factors we call a "miracle."

In this portion of Dialogue 1, and throughout, OT/MP, OT/MP will use the geometric diagram of a cone to illustrate the nature of expanding consciousness in several areas, and in a variety of ways. The cone is used to represents a universal pattern of expanding Cosmic C/consciousness across time. It always begins with an initial point, a primal or archetypal initiation of development or awareness that unfolds toward some expression of Transcendent Spiritual awareness. For this first application we examine several comparative cones of C/consciousness. Our first goal is to estimate where humanity is in our collective Spiritual unfoldment. From this perspective, the scale and depth of the challenge before us becomes apparent. A venn diagram is a circle, as though looking down on the top of a cone. Knowing these relationships as expressed by cones and venn diagrams are empowering for those who wish to apply the concepts of the MP to an assessment of themselves and their world. |
P: In this part of our Dialogue on C/consciousness, I want to share with you a series of diagrams. These are various cones that are descriptive of different levels of awakened C/consciousness.
Q: Cones--you mean like ice cream cones?
P: Yes, but with something better than ice cream. These cones will serve to illustrate the various arenas that describe the unfoldment of humanity's C/consciousness. I wish to encourage you to begin thinking along these lines as we will revisit many of these cones as we progress through our Dialogues. Each of the following cones will be descriptive of only one dimension of our C/consciousness. This gives the false appearance that there are many disconnected dimensions, but they are actually integrated in the unfoldment of ONE HOLISTIC dimension, our unfolding presence in the unfolding COSMOS. But in order to manage their conceptual complexity, I divide the illustrative cones into illusory separate dimensions for the convenience of out limited intellectual minds.
Q:
[ref
figure at left] So this cone you
are showing me is
a kind of prototype. It stars at the point and then expands.
P: Yes. From some primal point of origin, regardless of the dimension of consciousness being presented, each cone suggests an eventual destiny of final unfoldment. That destiny relates to the completion of that dimension of C/consciousness being described.
Q: All right. Then I should try to accept each individual cone you show me and understand it with respect to what is also going on simultaneously in every other cones. But the other cones are describing some other dimension of C/consciousness? Yet another example of the challenge of the "curse of Holistic/systems thinking." Right?
P: Yes. Excellent. Now in subsequent use of the cone figures, we are going to be interested in the details of that dimension of expansion labeled by the cone. We will always do this from a closed point of origin (an alpha Point) and move toward an ultimate all encompassing expansion (an omega state.) [ref Teilhard de Chardin, 1959]
Q: That would be its destiny or ultimate state of completion.
P: Examine this initial figure to begin to understand how the "meaning" we accept from our consciousness must be derived from the next higher level of consciousness organization. You will note there will always be a progression from simple to complex regardless the area of C/consciousness we are examining.
Q: Do I get to place myself on these cones you will show me? To discover where I am? Or where my consciousness is?
P: Yes. But therein lies a tragedy of human life. Each of us is mostly outside of any meaningful awareness of an accurate and valid Conscious perception of ourselves. Our egos see to that. We are not trained, and not skilled in the art of seeing ourselves or examining ourselves from any objective perspective. The grand magnificence of a Total Consciousness Capacity is lost to us. This lack is present in many of the dimensions that will be illustrated by these cones. Yet we revel in the ego orchestrated, illusory truth created by the limiting distortions of our material senses.
Therefore, the Cosmic organization of which we are an essential part includes our own Spiritually and its seamless relationship with all other systems even at the material level. This seamless hierarchy proceeds from the elemental parts of each individual body and its ego intellect. It unfolds through collections of individuals, through coalitions united by a common cause, then the organized group, formal organization, institution, and their subsequent collection into a society, and then the collection of collections into the entire collective humanity.
Q: So I have to begin thinking in a state of all encompassing all-at-onceness, regardless of what I want to focus on at a given time. I admit this is a skill I have never practiced.
P: Within this collective hierarchy, only Spiritual Consciousness is the persistent organizing Principal, whether recognized or not. All must surrender to the LAW. In fact all of us are already surrendered to the LAW, whether we know it or not, or whether we believe it or not. There can be no escape from the actions, values, and effects that follow our thoughts.
Q: Is this an extension of the
principle you stated up
front. "Life is
RAW!
REALITY always wins!?"...
.
Figure 1: Comparing
the status quo of human C/consciousness with what is required

P: Yes. We begin now to understand the mechanisms that give substance to that claim. First, let me give you a preview of where we are heading. I have already shown you Figure 1, our first use of cones [left hand figure,] The height of the cone represents a measure of the degree of unfolded C/consciousness from lowest to highest. The diameter of each cone creates a volume that represents the number of persons found in that state of C/consciousness at this time. We are interested in the number of people suggested by the volume represented in the overall size of each cone.
But I hasten to state that the dimensions of these cones cannot be numerically accurate because the true numbers of members in each of the cones cannot be known at this time. This is due to the limits of C/Consciousness measures, let alone the data than could be created from such measures. Nevertheless, I argue that the dimensions of these cones are sufficient for our purposes because they do accurately approximate the proportionate relationship of levels of attained C/consciousness in the world today.
In this figure [above] the two sets of cones show the numbers of our population represented at different levels of C/consciousness. We presently stand condemned due to the dominant presence of low consciousness individuals represented by the scale of the cones on the left side of the figure.
Q: Wait a minute. Do I remember correctly that you said there is not a necessary correlation between intelligence and Consciousness. If that is true, that many individuals in that big fat low consciousness group can include some of our most brilliant minds. Correct?
P: Yes. Exactly, and is this not a scary thought?
Q: Outrageous. We may be being led by a collection of brilliant fools!
P: A fearsome thought. Then you can understand why our society must first become awakened to their present state of C/Consciousness and transcend the reality that they unquestioningly believe, and instead detect the Reality in which they actually live and move and have their being.
Q: Of course you must also be focusing now on the western industrial societies?
P: Actually, these cones define the general distribution of C/consciousness in all the civilized, high tech societies. Within them we can also examine the sub-sets or types of C/consciousness that create our sensate illusions of reality. Consider the figure that shows three sets of three cones each [below.] Each cone in a set represents each of our three ego driven traps of mind: agendas, communication and HIP (Human Information Proecessing) competence.
These sets of cones estimate the current collective level of society's consciousness in these three areas. They represent a distribution based on the number of people in the world. Again, this scale is not intended to be mathematically exact, but is a proportional estimate based on the theory and Spiritual Principles that underlay the MP.
Notice the volumes illustrated by the size of the Cones. Notice that the volume (or numbers of persons) expressing in each of the three paths, one for each ego overlay, suggests there is much less Spiritual Consciousness developed than as the sets of cones move to the right side of the figure. There we see a dominance of Spiritual Consciousness. The figure illustrates the relative difference between the total C/consciousness of humanity as it now exits compared to what is required to save humanity from annihilation at our own destructive hands. Lets examine these implications of these cones in greater detail using the cones in the figure [below.]
Figure 2: Comparing
the number of members
estimated in each ego overlay to permit a Spiritual transfiguration

Q: I don't understand the difference between the qualities of consciousness shown at the bottom of the cones compared to the quality of C/consciousness at the top.
P: We will devote sufficient time to develop the answer to your question in the dialogue that is dedicated to each of the three traps. For now, just accept that the quality of C/consciousness shown at the bottom of the cones (early in their evolution across time) is simple and inadequate. Then as you move up each cone (i.e., expand C/consciousness over time,) the quality of C/consciousness becomes more complete and therefore more adequate to grasp all the information complexity and sub dimensions associated with that area. This higher level must be attained before the demands of the controlling ego can be successfully and reliably dealt with.
As I will later argue, it is time for society to intentionally take systematic actions to promote the expansion of C/consciousness among all of our members, regardless of their profession or life's goals. But we must first understand the dynamics of each ego trap of mind, and its implications for humanity. Up to now, this expansion has been left to chance. Let move to Figure 3.
Figure 3:
relation of human C/consciousness
against three survival factors: ethics, primal forces, and ego

The middle set of cones show the means of implementation by which one's will is managed as a reflection of the "Path of the Soul." This ranges from the use of brute force intimidation and coercion, to Intuitive Knowing and Spiritual Influences.
The third set of cones at the right of the figure are a general description of the evolution of human Souls, from instinctual mindlessness, evolving throughout our current state of priority service to our egos, but with a growing intellectual awareness that there are higher states of being to which we can and must ascend. Most of us function near the middle, but with the ego dominating our states of consciousness.
Q: Of course that is where I must be.
P: Yes. We must eventually become aware that there is an ultimate expression of Souls in a Conscious Unity of each with All. Notice that you will discover a correlation or linkage across all of the cones of C/consciousness. What ever level we are at in one of the descriptive cones, we will tend to find ourselves near a corresponding level on all of the other descriptive cones. For example, the less developed one's ethical C/consciousness, the more willing one is to act from the lower level of ascendance and use manipulative or coercive means to enforce their will on others.
Q: So that's your game. You want to convert me to religion to develop my Spiritual Consciousness.
P: Wrong! Religion is already an impediment to you because of your inadequate conceptual consciousness involving the proper role of religion, let alone the current state of your Spiritual Consciousness. My goal is to have your develop an awakened Spiritual Consciousness, period. Your subsequent involvement with religion is immaterial to me, other than to hope that any such involvement will be productive for your Spiritual unfoldment. I intend only to have you energize your latent Spiritual potential. What you do about religion thereafter will be you business.
Q: So I should examine my Spiritual Consciousness, that is, ask myself were I am in my own evolution across each of these cones?
P: Yes. The cones show the evolution of humanity's relationship to their ego self. At the bottom of a cone one lives in a chronic state of fear. Therefore, one's devotion and will (emotional energies and commitment) is totally focused on service to one's own ego needs for dominance and control to protect from the unknown source of that innate and undefined fear.
Q: But from the allegory of the primal dream, that fear is due to the lost memory of the Spiritual Link to GOD.
P: Indeed. So one acts first by crashing around following instinctual guidance, then by intentionally directed by reasoned guidance. as one's consciousness unfolds toward the middle level of the cone, they seek primal expressions of simplistic religions to follow the first awakening of the need to related to a higher power. They instinctively seek support the Spiritual unfoldment of self and humanity. But at this middle level, we are seriously trapped in that error ridden ego intellect which still dominates us.
At his level we may not recognize how frequently religion serves the egos of its owners, how it is involved as justifications for the coercive control of individuals, groups and societies. The owners of such religions are not motivated at all by the alleged beauty of their faith, but from raw but ill defined and unfocused innate primal fear. Such fear translates into a definition of in group-out group and we-they mentalities. This compartmentalization of fear and versus the need for trust energizes suspicion and hate that in turn justifies intimidation, force and finally violence as their only accessible solution to resolve their fears. When such a person serves as clergy, because their Soul Knows that they stand on unstable ground, they fear the loss of control over their members which not only challenges their sense of power and control, but their core ego needs for safety from the source of their fear. Such error thought can nurture a belief that they own the ultimate word in religion, and they are important, central and essential to "protect" their cause and their "sheep."
Q: So I think I understand. Then militant Islam is only the most current and spectacular example of this dynamic. They will kill all the "unbelievers" and "infidels" so the world will be safe for them and their brand of truth. Fearsome! So we need to get by this block.
P: Yes, more than fearsome, because there are passages in their sacred Qur'an that justifies killing those who are outside of Islam. [evidence] I will deal with this threat in our third, dialogue, the one on communication which is the second trap of mind. We must transcend the limiting effect of any "we-they" consciousness to achieve this goal of social harmony. We must Spiritually evolve to unsure that humanity survives.
Provided current trends are reversed, we have the opportunity to move to the upper levels of Consciousness in which Spiritual interdependence is permitted by the routine expressions and acceptance of trust in each other. Our survival as a species requires that a critical mass of humanity reach that level of Spiritual Unfoldment very soon. Then we have qualified ourselves for the ultimate achievement of complete Spiritual Transcendence.
Q: Do I understand that you are not attempting to use absolute numbers of persons to estimate the actual volume of the cones?
P: I am not, because there is no data as yet to do that. I am using the volumes of cones only to estimate in principle the numbers of persons found at each level. In that there can be no claim beyond an intuitive face validity for now.
Q: How is this estimate derived?
P: From studying the headlines in media, the focus of professional journals, and the quality of our national and world politics. The reliance on oppressive forces, not just directly, but other more subtle but devastating abuses rising from economic, political and social forces controlled by corporate power brokers who have infected the entire body of politics in every nation. The justification for this estimate can be understood only after we have developed the particular dynamics of C/consciousness in the areas I will present in our fifth dialogue. Now lets continue with the use of these cones. I will show you how to use them to illustrate different dimensions of unfolding C/consciousness.
Q: But how do we get unstuck from our current unilluminated minds, as you say, in order to challenge what our consciousness is creating and explaining to us?
P: First, just having simple respect for the existence of our intellectual limits is an important breakthrough. But now I want to move on.

To awaken wide spread Spiritual Consciousness of every member of humanity, the destructive presence of the all controlling ego consciousness must becomes apparent to be neutralized. This corruptive vice of ego dominance must be replaced by promoting each individual's capacity to fully open themselves to Spiritual unfoldment, an achievement that requires both risk and trust. This unfoldment is a prerequisite for success in each person's capacity to detect and cope with the complex array of problems afflicting them, our society, and humanity. By looking down on the top of three cones of unequal diameter you will see three concentric circles. When these circles are used to overlap and compare shared elements, they are called Venn diagrams. The following venn diagrams are used to illustrate the expanding C/consciousness of an infant through her/his adult years. These are compared under the following conditions: commonalties being emphasized when the infants are born: (1) into the same family, (2) different families, and (3) where differences in experiences are maximized when children are born into significantly different cultures. |
P: Now here are some figures [below] that can help you conceptualize how the consciousness status of one person can be shown in relationship to the consciousness of another person. Begin to meditate on these demonstrations, not just think about them.
Until otherwise betrayed by externally induced pain and fear, the newborn infant has complete trust in its new earthly context. After all it came from Spiritual Truth, a realm of perfect Peace and Love. At birth it can only know natural fear from its initial false experience of abandonment from its Spiritual link, or a traumatic disturbance in its nervous system created by either the sense of falling, or a sudden loud noise. All other forms and expressions of fear are taught to it by its parents, siblings, peers, and society. Now examine this figure. [below] As you look at the circles within circles, imagine that you are looking down on the tops of the expanding cones of C/consciousness. The figures show the expansion of C/c from the first year (smallest circle/cone) to beyond the 50th year (largest circle/cone.) The diameter of the circles will be determined by the nature of that person's experiences and influences it matures into adulthood and beyond
Figure 4: Cones as venn diagrams showing the
unfolding of consciousness
over a lifetime

P: Now
let me define this using the conceptual tools
of the MP. We can understand what happens to the new born
infant
from the moment of birth. The nature of this dynamic explains how to
understand
why people can have quite different consciousness natures. Examine this
figure 4 [above.] The
boundaries of the inner most
circle is ultimate or COSMIC
LINK with
which the Soul of the individual makes Spiritual contact within the
Ultimate
REALITY
labeled
TRUTH.
All life is formed, lives and dies within this SPIRITUAL
ECOLOGY.
Now examine the innermost circle labeled "Year 1" At birth, at the beginning of this first year, the newborn infant's consciousness has no earthly frame of reference for the source and nature of the sensate data arriving through all of its five carnal senses. It experiences a sensate world of chaos. The sense of abandonment is quickly replaced by it latent ego as its intellectual consciousness. that immediately begins to address the fear.
The infant quickly tries to "explain" its experience to itself as it detects that it is caught up in "something." That "something" is what the developing infant's ego consciousness progressively defines and develops through its intellect as the child's reality. All of this reality is sense driven and limited. Without a cognitive (thinking) map, this reality initially represents a continuum of certainty - uncertainty, pleasure - pain; fear - trust. But the intuitive Spiritual link remains alive and well, but find no means to expressing itself. The delicate memory of the infant's permanent link to the Super Consciousness (TRUTH,) its sixth sense, is continually challenged by its five overpowering ego senses. The first year of life is when the Spiritual potential for all human life is essentially the same within a range of genetic and Karmic [developed in dialogue 6] differences. [NOTE]
Q: What happens to that original Spiritual Consciousness after we are born? I know how I am now, but I forget what happened in between. We are certainly all different as personalities and in physique, even though we all share a common set of characteristics we recognize as our human traits.
Figure 5:
venn circles comparing consciousness of two family members

P: Notice in this Figure 5, [left] two infants are born in the same family. The "H," at the center, represents their common human qualities which is a condition of their birth, and which contains the residual link to the Supra Consciousness, or what I am calling Reality. While they have common genetic characteristics, they also receive the same general pattern of nurturing from their parents and peers. Nevertheless, as their consciousness unfolds, we can observe how they become more differentiated in how they experience, interpret, and interact with their respective realties. An important factor in this difference is their respective Karma which I will develop in our sixth dialogue.
Q: So if I could look at the map of human consciousness for each individual, by watching the maturation of an infant as it becomes an adult, I could understand how its C/consciousness directs its interaction with its experiences.
P: Correct. Building upon the idea of an infant as a constantly unfolding consciousness we can suggest how consciousness evolves from birth by comparing four different persons. First, as reflected in the [above] circles [venn diagrams] each infant's mind is initially embraced only by the original contact with its Holistic Reality, i.e., the Spiritual Truth of the infant as shared by a common humanity. You see that from the "H" in the center, each child's mental consciousness then begins to expand, most rapidly during childhood. The top half of the four Venn diagrams compares two individuals. They are raised in the same culture as peers. You can see how they share much in a common mental consciousness.
Q: So that is how the "nature-nurture" argument is resolved. We start with our nature legacy as our body, our biological instrument, and then nurture takes over and influences us based on the quality of our family and community.
Figure 6: venn
circles comparing persons across two cultures
P:
This figure 6 [left] shows
how another pair of individuals
are raised at the same time but in radically different cultures. The
cultures
can be separated by continents, but they could be tribal differences in
a common geographic area. But they could also be a child
raised in
the home of a wealthy corporate stock broker, and one raised in the
home
of a chronically unemployed unskilled laborer in the same
city. Note
that there are major cultural difference in what their experience will
define for their respective consciousness as they mature. From
these illustrations you get a hint why, under the limits of mental
consciousness,
there are always wars and rumors of wars and human tragedy. The innate
unaddressed fear expresses in a variety of destructive manifestations
Q: I could also interpret this bi-cultural version version as the perceptual boundary in consciousness between the two walls (A & B) of the necker cube reality!
P: You are catching on. In this discrepancy created by their respective consciousness are the seed of bigotry, suspicion and hate. These dynamics help explain the effect of unleashed bestial agendas and the paradox of communication in a consciousness of limited HIP competence. These factors are the subjects of our subsequent dialogues. Examples of this relationship can be seen in the differences between Israeli and Palestinian children raised in the purest aspects of their culture's values, while sealed off from meaningful contact with each other's values culture. Their common humanity and Spiritual Truth gives way to the demands of their growing ego intellect and its perverse "solutions" to their fear. Likewise we find this in children raised as Catholic or Protestant in Northern Ireland.
Q: So how do these traps actually affect the likes of me?
P: As I share the detailed dynamics of these three traps of the mind with you in our next three dialogues, you will be able to place yourself in the cones of consciousness relative to each of the traps. Understanding the nature and dynamics of how these traps play out in the world today will also provide you a conceptual foundation for understanding the values and behaviors of the power mongers (in dialogue 5.) The intellect is always challenged by any requirement to integrate divergent expressions of consciousness when encountering "strangers" and novel social systems.
Figure 7:
venn diagrams comparing four persons
across four subcultures
P:
In this figure 7 [left] we
see the relationship among
four infants. Two infants born and raised in the same family, and
another
two infants also born and raised in the same family but in a different
culture. Multiply these circle diagrams by one for each of
seven
billion people in the world. The actual intersections of Real
commonalties
are very, very small. Only the central core of our common
humanity
the Cosmic "H" links us in TRUTH without human intervention.
But
as we mature, we steadily loose our awareness that we are, in TRUTH,
linked as ONE
with our common
bonded GOD.
You remember our
little mind game of powers of 10? We must build from there to
insure
our future.
The fundamental prerequisite for promoting meaningful, harmonious, and stable social change within each society, and internationally, is to first develop the capacity to understand, accept, and expand each individual's functional Spiritual Consciousness.
Q: This could become one's life goal and occupation.
P: But even before we can teach others, we ourselves must learn how to build our own expanded Spiritual Consciousness. Almost universally, those who are attempting to work together to build trust do not know the existence or consequences of this fundamental concept that affects the likelihood of their personal fulfillment, happiness and success. Nor are they fully aware that they all suffer from this vast discrepancy in their respective consciousness of reality. Is there any wonder there are human abuses, wars and human atrocities galore.
P: Notice
that one of the
constant themes of OT/MP is that all perceptions begin and end within
ourselves.
Therefore,
we now begin to use the concepts of expanding cones of
C/consciousness
to look within ourselves and see how we can relate the dynamics of our
growth in consciousness capacity to the events of our personal lives
and
our activities in the larger society.
.
Figure
8: Capacity
for Love and Trust as Consciousness unfolds
P:
This cone of expanding C/consciousness [left] focus
on the primal needs which are summarized from the Maslow
Hierarchy of needs. The movement of C/consciousness
is from managing
fear by a primal focus on coercive control up through the Consciousness
potential for mutual trust and consensus building values and
protocols.
So called "Third World" countries and cultures must function near the
subsistence
level with this kind of consciousness.
Q: So western societies are superior to primitive countries due to our superior consciousness.
P: Well you certainly fell headlong into that trap! When Spiritual Consciousness is compared, many primitive societies (as we call them), like the original native Americans and other tribal societies, are actually superior to western technological cultures in their ability to access and benefit from the realms of Spirit. The achieve this through their innate, materially uncorrupted, and well developed Spiritual Consciousness.
Q: Really! So western society made a pact with the devil to advance our intellect to produce the technological civilization as we have. is that what you suggest?
P: Yes, it is the so called Faustian bargain, but only because we so chose. I am arguing that it is not only possible, but essential, that we develop both intellectual and Spiritual C/consciousness.
Q: But now we are out of balance?
P: Exactly.
Q: And so you're wanting me to get the balance right? I suffer from too much intellectual development with too little Spiritual development?
P: Yes and the scale of the discrepancy is a measure of the likelihood of death by terminal ego. I am not in a position to "use" you or anyone else. I can only open a door for you. You are the only one to choose to walk through that door.

The core of Spiritual Consciousness and three ego overlays At this point,
OT/MP applies the cones to introduce
development of the following aspects of sensate
consciousness:
The venn diagrams illustrating the three ego overlays of agendas, communication and HIP are shown as concentric circles that envelop our core Spiritual Consciousness potential. These become the three traps of mind: agendas, communication, and HIP (Human Information Processing) competence. The three venn diagrams (cones) of the ego overlays will be shown in relationship to the innermost Soul and the embracing Spiritual context from which they were formed. |
Figure 9:
Evolution of priority needs as a reflection of capacity to Love
P:
In Figure 9, [to the left]
you can observe again the
progress from primal to Spiritual Consciousness. You observe the
dominant
control needs of the ego give way to higher levels until Spiritual
Consciousness
is sufficiently empowered to displace the ego. Notice
in this
figure how the ego manages to use technological extensions to increase
the ego's access to power and control. I develop
these in greater
detail in our next dialogue, agendas.
Q: That's what the Primal Dream of the Infant described, when she saw her senses and hands and feet taking on the shape of technological extensions of her body!
P: Yes. It has been long past that western societies resorted to the direct laying on of hand and voices as the sole means for extending their power. In our history we can find a wide array of tools, locks, keys, weapons and primal modes of security. Then we move up to the levels associated with the resolving of our ego needs of belonging, affirmation and validation.
Q: That would be the designer clothing, elegant forms of automobile, the various status symbols that people lust for.
P: Yes. And that lust describes the nature of primal relations between men and women which alas still exists in some quarters. But now we also have the romantic excesses of eros. That development brings us to the threshold where elements within American Society and in some other parts of the world are reaching beyond these material bounded limits to bring into the world the physical and social manifestations derived from an elevated Spiritual Consciousness.
Figure 10:
Unfolding of capacity for Trust
with unfolding C/consciousness
Q:
What does this figure represent [left]
I don't
recall our discussing it, but you have mentioned this quality of HIP
several
times.
P: I am showing you an advance concept, a preview of what you will become quite familiar with in our fourth dialogue. It represents the third of the three traps of the ego mind. This figure focuses our attention on the capacity of humanity to perceive the complexity of systems in which they embedded and within which we live and move and have our being. There is a direct correlation between your ability to resolve the actual complexity in any situation affecting you and your level of Spiritual Consciousness. I will make this argument to you in greater detail when we enter the aspects of our dialogue that focus directly on HIP. Low HIP individuals must function with an impoverished model of their Reality compared to abstract HIP individuals. Compared to our agendas which are mostly biologically determined, HIP is mostly a function of our acculturation.
Educational systems are always a mirror of the culture that creates them. Certain Islamic countries are arrested near the bottom of this cone. They teach their children that Islam is the only valid religion, and that hatred of non believers is a requirement to energize them to fulfill the expansionist mandates of Islamic scripture. Western high technology societies (such as the one that created you're educational experiences) are currently arrested near the level of rational pragmatism. Of course there are always the adventurers in any culture who strive to reach beyond the limits of established norms and expectations. They then take action to motivate their peers to invest in a higher C/consciousness. Perhaps you recall the death sentence that Iran's Iatola Khomeini put on author Salmon Rushdie for his alleged critique of Islam (it was not) called The Satanic Verses. [1988] As we investigate the three traps of C/consciousness it will become clear to you why these conditions exist and then what can and must be done about them.

Now, to complete our overview of C/consciousness in this figure, [left] you will find the master relationship among the elements of the ego's sensate consciousness. Imagine each of the three cones of the overlays nested within each other, from the most wired in primal (biological,) to the most culturally induced and influenced (HIP.)
The inner most core is the Soul or ever present indestructible source that each of us "Is"is enfolded in the grand Cosmic scheme of which ever of the terms you propose to use, GOD, TRUTH, etc. Then the first surrounding circle (red cone) overlays and embraces the Soul as a biological sheath of flesh with its ego foundation of grounded in the agendas. That is nested within the next outer overlay (green cone) to be nourished as the individual learns to communicate using the language and symbols of its culture. That is nested within the (purple cone) and represents its HIP competence which is the individual capacity to process information at some level of complexity.. Notice that this represents in the MP, the apparent outer boundary of the individual personality. This outer HIP capacity acts to create rules for relating to its material reality. These are owned by the ego and its slave the intellect that acts to engage others by integrating each of the three ego overlays, agendas, communication, and HIP.
The outer blue and yellow circles represent unfolding elements of Spiritual energy-information that is called Spiritual Consciousness in OT/MP. For the Spiritually unawakened, these rings are thin and anemic. For those with progressive levels of increasing Spiritual Illumination, these rings become ample, rich and deep. But they can only become so by meditative focus and discipline. As they become enriched, the individual is empowered with health, abundance, prosperity, and Wisdom. This is because of the improved decision making, character and determination of Spiritually advanced persons to advance in these areas.
Q: So that is what you hold out to me, if I am willing to play your game?
P: In a sense yes, for we will develop and apply the MP as the means for you to create your own empowerment. We will devote ourselves to showing you how you can understand the Real state of your C/consciousness contributes to or hinders your well being as we pursue the development of each of these three ego overlays by means of the Principles of the MP. I will constantly relate the elements of this diagram to provide you a means to recognize the source and nature of your needs, and how to manage them. Once you have yourself under the control of Spiritual discipline, you will begin to discover how to empower your capacity to serve humanity effectively. Let me restate these crucial relationships.
We begin at the center of the concentric circles (looking down into the boundaries of four cones.) At the center we find that initial Spiritual kernel of the Soul, the "I Am" One Spiritual Truth. In this we are ONE with each other. Recall God's biblical name as, "I AM THAT I AM." [reference] The little "I Am" is each of us, each individuated Soul. That Individuality is the most sacred part of us which is and remains directly linked to the Super Consciousness of Spiritual energy, regardless of our state of awareness of that link. It is the Sacred and inviolate part of us that is covered over by the sheath of our flesh and the dominance of its senses. This ego owned sheath then defines your personality.
Q: So you have stated a technical distinction in the terms you use. My "Individuality" is the sacred and inviolate part of myself, but my "personality" is the vulnerable part of me created by my ego. So this is the part that we use to relate to each other.
P: Yes you have the key concept. But if you are part of, or devote your self to a "cult of personality," you set yourself up for failure. It may be grand for a while, but the Truth comes home. On the other hand, if you develop the skill and confidence to relate to the Spiritual part of yourself, your may have troubles in the world, but you will eventually overcome the world and find ultimate good. in all of its forms.
After birth, the consciousness evolves and expands across these three ego driven filters in a progression of priorities according to the following sequence, first agendas, then communication and finally HIP. This evolution is not in the discrete, linear, compartmentalized sequence the static figure implies. Instead the areas overlap and advance all together, but by means of a shading of emphasis such that, the priority focus changes beginning with an infants total ego gratification orientation, to an ultimate mature, loving and Spiritually health adult with her/his capacity to live in and contribute to a world of kindness and harmony.
Unfortunately, this happy outcome is rare, because the natural growth is usually frustrated by the ego personality's attention to competing human influences from parents and peers such that the person becomes arrested at some lower level of Spiritual immaturity. The collective presence of some dominate level of Spiritual maturity defines the characteristics of the society and culture in which such persons live. This development begins in the infant as its agendas, and then steadily evolves to add and develop the other ego overlays.
Q: You emphasize that the obvious boundaries within the figure only appear to be hard and fixed when in fact there are no boundaries between them.
P: Yes and there is a gradual evolution of awareness that may be described as a shading of emphasis. Early in life the child is caught mostly in the primal agendas while learning communication. In that learning context the relationship of language and symbols are bonded to what the child is feeling about its perceived world. Then in applying its communication skills, the child is also developing the conceptual rules of HIP which are determining its capacity to detect and process the complexity of its Reality as it defines and expands its consciousness of its reality.
Q: So I assume that we must address each one of these in turn, in sequence, even though they are all occurring at the same time, but with increasing emphasis from the agendas to HIP.
P: Exactly.
Q: It appears that this is another challenge arising from what you have called the curse of systems thinking.
P Yes, excellent, and a big example. The complexity of this cone of expanding C/consciousness is one reason that the Holistic integration of these relationships have eluded the mainstream of human intellectual attention for so long.
Q: But I am correctly understanding that this awareness of wholeness is masked at birth by the snare of the senses. Correct?
P: It is. One of the tools for moving beyond this state of abysmal ignorance is to achieve greater awareness of the capacity and limits of communication. But as the capacity for communication forms around the emotional energy created by the agendas, therefore communication itself becomes a trap, the second trap of the mind. In dialogue 3 we will focus on this important dynamic to show how communication's invisible link to the agendas can create a major stumbling block to the constant evolution of Spiritual Consciousness. This ego trap is the generative source for all kinds of fear amplification. Fear manifests as suspicion, distrust, misunderstandings and the felt need to take defensive actions sometimes preemptive actions against a source of the perceived threat. Of course I trust that you are beginning to catch on that this source of threat is not "out there" in the illusory, reality created and managed by the ego, but is "within the self" as a character flaw in our Spiritual integrity.
Q: Wait! You say, the source of any fear is not "out there?"
P: Yes, all C/consciousness is within you!. But it is premature for me to develop that idea right now. Simply accept, for now, that C/consciousness is an artifact of the Spiritual status of your mind. As I was saying, the third overlay on the C/consciousness of the Soul is HIP, the third trap of mind. This capacity to relate accurately to the complexity inherent in every situation is referred to in OT/MP as HIP (Human Information Processing) competence.
Q: I can imagine this diagram from the perspective of looking down on the cone. I see the point source of creation in the center which you have described as the Soul, and then see how the overlays on C/consciousness form around it from birth to death. Is this correct.
P: Yes, as the Soul grows its physical body and attempts to influence its ego dominated mental consciousness, its natural tendency is to rediscover its hidden Spiritual roots. That effort to Spiritually influence the ego is experienced by an Spiritually alert person as "the still small voice." But the infant's latent and persistent desire for Spiritual awakening cools as the infant-becoming-adult is progressively seduced by the allure of the material world. Then its progress for recovering the Soul is arrested at some stage of development because of the sense driven dominance of the ego and its slave, the intellect.
Q: So I begin with where I am, but now with a sense of being alert to the influences of my ego personality.

Summary
Q: Easy, at least I am smart if not yet Spiritually Conscious as you have noted. Here are the main points as I now understand them:
In examining our society, my own life as well as the lives of others, I can expect that the major problems and social malaise in their various expressions all have in common is that they relate to an undeveloped Spiritual Consciousness. This inadequacy allows the individual's ego to dominate the actions of their mind. There is a long list of these symptoms, and the most serious is the right wing neo-fascist mentality that is beginning to elect its adherents to high political positions. During our first introductory meeting you gave an example of the 1995 shutdown of the Federal Government by House Speaker Gingrich and his right wing friends which illustrates the values and determination in that Spiritually anemic mentality.
You have made it clear that no intellectual solution to any problem can be found if the mind is not first conscious of the Holistic pattern or full context of relevant problems and potential alternatives. The mind by itself cannot create that consciousness. And I think you also noted that the mind, or ego, raises enormous barriers to discovering this flaw.
Further, Spiritual Consciousness is required first, to empower mental consciousness. Spiritual Consciousness empowers mental consciousness that then further empowers one's intelligence to operate. I think you said that only an illuminated Spiritual Consciousness can dominate the ego mind. That Spiritual dimension then expresses as Wisdom in intellectual decision making.
You also stated that idea another way when you said in effect that while the mind may derive information from data (the facts and events detected in the world,) only an empowering Spiritual Consciousness can interpose itself to correct the fear generated defensive ego errors of mental decision making based only on that data, even if correct and complete.
You demonstrated a model of the dynamics of expanding consciousness by showing how discovering the multiple dimensions of the Necker Cube can be identified as an expansion of mental consciousness. But you emphasized that this insight was not connected to any thought process as an assertive mental activity, but was analogous to surrender, as in Meditation, i.e., to awaken a Spiritual Illumination. I found this helpful.
You emphasized that a person (or any human system) with a narrow field of consciousness literally cannot fully relate to any issue that is outside the boundary limits of her/his consciousness. It is like the invisible dimension in the necker cube. That is, the concept is literally not present to the intellect. It is not that they disagree, they just can't relate to it. As you say, "it is not in their computer."
Information derived from data must be nurtured by Wisdom, a Spiritual Component, to insure long term positive outcomes in the person's (or system's) decision making. Given its implications I suddenly felt very vulnerable in trusting certain others to influence the important goals in my life's agenda.
I was impressed by the importance of understanding that our present individual and national inability to correctly recognize Real problems, to identify Real evil, and to recognize and implement the optimum solutions are all traceable to an inadequate collective Spiritual Consciousness. Without that, we are vulnerable to missing crucial components of the totality of all forces operating on us. As you suggested, we are then playing a life and death game of cards with less than a full deck.
I, we, must first become Spiritually Conscious or empowered for this kind of Wisdom driven decision making. I understand this, but I'm not sure I can fully accept it yet. I find I cannot yet fully accept that my physical being is literally energized and directed by an embracing non-local superior Intelligence, and that the quality of my relationship with this intelligence is evident in the scope and depth of my C/consciousness. For now, I try to accept it on trust. Further, I must accept that I can not directly approach this intelligence with my mind alone. I cannot intimidate, negotiate, manipulate, or command this Intelligence to garner its Wisdom. I feel my ego writhing at that thought.
I understand that on the fundamental state of our respective C/consciousness, the sheath of flesh as you called it, blinds us to the Spiritual link between our little "I am" and the MASTER "I AM." We do not easily rediscover the lost memory of our Spiritual Truth. You promised we will explore the details of the three ego overlays that are barriers to easy access to the information in the Spiritual Realms. These inhibiting ego overlays are: agendas, Communication and HIP.
Finally, I can get further ahead in life once I realize why and how all Cosmic systems are in continuous unfolding as is my own C/consciousness in that context. Further, I will do well to willfully promote this process by taking deliberate action to develop my C/consciousness capacities through Meditative practices and discipline. I must not resist the Spiritual discipline required by following the distracting and even destructive ego manufactured illusions of my sensate mind.
P: An accurate summary. Now we must complete our detail review of the origen and nature of our problems at every level of system complexity by visiting and immersing ourselves in the three traps of mind. We must investigate these traps as they apply to every level of human organization, to you and me, as individuals, to the coalitions and groups in our life, to organizations and institutions we serve and that serve us, and finally to our national society as embedded in complex collections of various international systems.
Now you are ready to learn about the nature of the distractions that corrupt the sensate mind. These are: agendas, the paradox of communication, and HIP (Human Information Processing) competence. Now you are ready to explore the details that define the first trap of human consciousness, the agendas.
